Secondly, the peanut butter in this topic is a US made peanut butter.  I have never seen Sunpat or any other common store brand in the UK separate like the natural peanut butters do.  Which ones are you buying and how are you storing them?

You've never seen Sunpat separate? I have a jar in my cupboard right now that is peanut gunk on the bottom and oil on the top..if that's not separating, I don't know what is! (and for the record, I think sunpat is gross...which is why it's still sitting nearly full and separated...it's perhaps not as much separation as a "natural" peanut butter, but it is separated)
I don't buy any peanut butters that are UK made (other than that one mistake), but I have bought some Jif from Selfridges in the bull ring.

Well if it's very old then it might happen...I still have not personally seen it.  Especially since UK brands are made with the same hydrogenated fats as US brands and it would take a lot for those to separate.  Perhaps it is due to age, heat exposure or something.

Anyway my point was just to let people know that there is a cheaper US made peanut butter that might satisfy some people that like Jif and Skippy and those type brands... 79 p versus £1.39.

The only reason that commercial peanut butters don't separate is that, as mentioned above, they have hydrogenated (bad) fats added to them to stabilize them. I'd much rather have to stir back in some oil every now and then in my natural peanut butter -- knowing I'm eating good fats!

this is a little off subject, but I have noticed several of you ladies refer to your husbands or significant others as "DH," now certainly they don't all have the dame initials.  What doed DH stand for?

IN regards to the pregnancy thing.  My mom works for an OBGYN in the states and she had not heard of restraining from peanut butter when your pregnant unless you already have a nut allergy.  It seems to be one of the cultural differences of what you can and cannot eat.

Bloodied, but not beaten!
