Termination of Marriage
« on: May 22, 2006, 04:40:31 PM »
Hi -

Just a quick question, my fiance and I are getting married in a few months and i will be moving to UK afterwards. I was wondering, where can we get a copy of their divorce papers? I know this is of the requirements when i apply for a spousal visa.

Thanks!

In the US ,either the ex-wife/ex-husband would have to go to the courthouse where they had their divorce done. I'm not sure if its the same for the UK.
You said their divorce papers, does that mean your partners? If so ,I'm not sure you can get a copy of the divorce papers on your own

No idea for UK divorces, for US divorces contact the county clerk of the court where the divorce took place (for example, mine was the Clerk for Maricopa County, AZ).

hmm no idea if they are reputable or not but this company seems to get copies of UK divorce decrees

Did he employ a solicitor to help her with the divorce?  Wasn't he sent a copy of the Decree Absolute?  You will need it for the marriage to take place, not just to get the visa.

My DH got his from the solicitor who handled the divorce.  Like a nuncy, he had lost the ones the solicitor had given him first off.
