Southerner in the Midlands
« on: September 19, 2002, 01:48:26 AM »
Hey everyone,

I am originally from Atlanta, and have moved to a little village (Claverdon) outside of Warwick with my husband and two small children (ages 1 and 2).  I have been here since late May and am finally finding my way around and getting used to things!  I really wish I had found this site before I moved here - what a wealth of information!  Many thanks to all of those who make this site possible!  I've already told a friend who is relocating to outside of London about it - I know she will find it helpful.

Hello from Rugby, just a bit north of you. We were in Warwick over the weekend for a wedding. Lovely area, have you been to see the castle? It's fantastic. Stratford-upon-Avon is also fantastic, my favorite place I've been to so far, it's bubbling over with old charm. There's also a butterfly center there that kids love, though my daughter at the time was afraid of them if they fluttered to close to us. :)I have a 1-1/2 year old, 3 year old, and 5 year old.

Big welcome to you, I hope you'll stick around and get to know everyone, they're a lovely group of regulars here. Is your husband from here originally?

Also a hello from London!  :D

Nice to have you here and at least it didn't take you as long as it took me to find this place!  I stumbled upon it about a year after I moved!  Definately a fun, friendly, helpful, home-away-from home, though.  You'll definately find yourself addicted quickly if you aren't careful!

Anyway, nice to have you and hope you'll jump right in!

Hi there!

We, "Val" and I have gone the other way from you.  We left London last year and are now in Virginia.  Val is from Virginia and found UK Yankee useful when she was living in the UK.

They're a fun bunch here, and lots of people will chip with helpful advice if you have a problem!

Hey Leah,

We have been to Warwick Castle, Stratford, and the Butterfuly Farm - I feel like a tourist still!

My husband is an American as well - originally from Illinois/Wisconsin.  He works for an American farm machinery company that is headquartered in Atlanta, but has its European HQ in Coventry.

Thanks for responding!

I still feel like a tourist as well mcully, at least when I venture outdoors. And occaisionally outside of Rugby. ::) I'm from the midwest as well, Eastern Iowa, so I know the Northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin area a little.

I hope you're prepared for a long wet winter, it seems to have begun. :-/
