UK Football on US TV?
« on: June 04, 2006, 11:58:13 PM »
Hey.
I just wonderd if anyone knew if you can get the same games that are on Skysports here in the US?
I know there is a Soccer Chanel here for one of the cable providers. OH i forgot the chanel. BUT i wonderd if my hubby moved here, would he be okay with the lack of Football news.
Would he be able to watch his games online maybe?

:)

I've seen UK footie on US tv, but only like Match of the Week.  At my parents', it's on I think Fox Sports Net.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

Yup, Fox Sports World.  My guys watched a lot of football in the US.  Not quite as much as sky but almost!  they have an equivelant of Match of the Day plus they show games on Weekends (EPL)  - at least that is when they watched their footie.

Actually when we were over a couple weeks ago, dh had to have his football on and we discovered some channels like ESPN2, 3 and some of the Spanish channels will carry them. He didn't mind watching one game in Spanish. He thought it was kinda neat!

There's a very expensive EPL package that will give you the Sat and Sun PPV matches or you can simply purchase the PPV ones you want each week.  FSC doesn't carry all of the league matches.  If you have access to a Canadian dish you can get more there.  Otherwise, check to see if any of the pubs in your area carry them.

Yes, the Canadian channel is better than Fox Sports World.  It's Rogers Sports Net which showed more games than FSW.

I've been doing tons of looking to figure this out for the world cup and espn and abc are the networks that will be showing the games in the US.  We subscribed to a special sports package with our cable company to get the espn channels, they'll just be on at weird times.

Last world cup, we taped all the games and watched in the morning/ after work.  wE also picked up a lot of games from Tijuana (we were in San Diego) but they were in Spanish.

DH says three sources of footie in US:  Fox Sports World, ESPN, and if you further enough south, Mexican Stations.

The only problem can be if your DH follows one team... some games might be harder to find in the USA and also the packages can be quite expensive.

But my DH had no qualms about waking up at 6 am to watch a match on Telemundo or Univision!  He'd provide his own commentary!

Especially if it's not an English Premiership team!

Very true not too many Scottish games on.... or non EPL...

though one might develop an affinity for say the Oaxaca team.  ;D

Fox showed games of all kinds of leagues.  My guys watched German, French, Spanish, Brasil, futsall.

It is true though that it is hard to follow one team.

The package we got was quite cheap compared to what i thought it would be.  You could check with your cable company to see what they offer.  It was only about $5.00 extra a month, so for the two months we'll still be here, not too bad.  We actually got to watch the England v Jamaica friendly over the weekend which was nice.  DH loved it!
