I'm just confused on why you have to bake your own b-day cake? Someone should be doing this for you! :)

Well, the DH can cook/bake, but we have so much going on right now, I  may bake my own. We're having a BBQ and he has loads of stuff to do to tidy up the garden. Since I'm still recovering from a c-sec, I'll leave the heavy stuff to him and happily stay in the kitchen!

He makes a mean pavlova, though!  ;D
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I don't have a cake idea for you (in fact, I made my own from scratch this year and it turned out really bad), but I wish you a happy birthday this Saturday!

Happy Birthday on Saturday to my fellow Gemini!  My birthday is tomorrow!  I wish I had a suggestion on a cake, but unfortunately I don't.  I hope you have a great day! :)

For you two Cait and Barbara anything! ;D

Though I know Barbara can bake things that are to die for and Cait's a great cook so...

I'll make you a deal I'll do cakes if Barbara makes me her Lemon Meringue pie and Cait does her Chili Lasagna! Heat me up and cool me down!  ;D

UPDATE!

Several of you asked me what cake I ended up making and I promised to post it - so here it is!!

All I can say is that it is possibly the moistest cake I have ever made and it is SO easy it's ridiculous! It was a huge, huge hit!

MOIST CHOCOLATE CAKE

1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vinegar

Mix all of the ingredients well with a mixer. It should be brown and smooth. Free of lumps. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes.

This makes one layer for a double layer cake. I used an 8 inch pan. I didn't realize it would only be one layer so made the second one immediately after. I assume you can double the recipe but  would wonder if you needed to double the baking soda and vinegar.

I topped mine with a vanilla/lemon cream cheese frosting! YUM!
