Half and Half
« on: June 22, 2006, 02:24:46 PM »
Does anybody know what the equivalent for Half-and-half is in the UK?  I tried single cream, it is almost like whipping cream.  If anybody knows, I would greatly appreciate it...I miss it in my coffee in the morning.

Both Sainsburys and Tesco have something called low-fat pouring cream.  It's THE closest thing I've seen to half and half and works brilliantly for me.  Actually they used to sell half and half at Tesco a few years back but stopped.

Waitrose sells half and half too, but it is a higher fat content than Sainsburys and Tesco's low-fat pouring cream.
Insert wonderfully creative signature here …

What's funny is that when I go to restaurants or coffee bars and ask for cream, I get something close.  When I go to Tesco or Waitrose, I can't find it.  I've been preggers for a while, so I forget what I did before.  Oh, I remember!  I used coffee mate.  Let us know if you find something similar..

It's maybe an acquired taste, so not for everyone, but i use tinned evaporated milk in my coffee.   Makes it really creamy, and i like the taste.
I discovered this while in Germany.
