Okay, I know this has been discussed somewhere....but can anyone reccomend some stretches for someone (not me hehe) who keeps getting a stitch in their side?  Please oh please oh please?

One of the guys I used to work with at the Post Office was a part-time physical therapist with the V.A. In there, there's no lack of bad backs, side stitches, etc. What he'd advise is to stand about 6 inches from an immovable object such as a pole or anything else that you could grasp with two hands that would'nt move, wrap your hands around it while keeping your feet together and let your body weight fall backwards while slightly bending your knees so that your backside is taking the brunt of your weight, keep that position for 10-20 seconds and do that 3-4 times a day,your body should be in this position with the pole directly in front of you >.....it seemed to be an effective and simple method and it worked for me the few times my back and side got cranky ;D

Ooh, Celtic, I'll have to try that one! For me, I like the stretch of an arm in the air, one at a time, reach as high as you can, as though you are trying to touch something just out of reach. But don't do it quickly or jerkily...fluid movement to give your muscles a gentle stretch and not to cause a pinch.
