Hello from Northern Ireland
« on: September 23, 2002, 07:27:54 PM »
Hi everyone, I'm Cyndi. I've been living in N.I. with my husband and two young daughters for 1 1/2 years now. I'm originally from Illinois but have spent the last few years between 3 continents, most recently living in Australia. So far this has been the toughest adjustment yet.....
Glad to "meet" all of you.
Hiya Trish!!!  ;D

Hi Cyndi!  Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you've definately been around the block!  Is your husband American as well then?  Have you been moving around the world for work reasons?  It's a little bit comforting to hear that a seasoned traveler like you has had a hard time adjusting to the UK too.  I've been here about the same time as you but still haven't quite found my footing.  Someday tho!

Anyway, glad to have you and hope you'll keep posting!

Hi Cyndi...welcome to the forum.  :D
One of my best friends lives in N. Ireland...in Belfast. He's been asking me to come visit but I had to tell him no cause I'm saving up to be with my sweety in Wales.  [smiley=love.gif] I hear its really pretty there in Northern Ireland. What city are you in?

Thanks so much for the warm welcome everyone!! So glad to be here.

Wishstar, my hubby is australian, so we have been between his home, mine, the UK, Ireland, and back to Northern Ireland now. And yes, we have moved because of his job. Now we're settled in and plan on staying here for atleast 7 years. Fingers crossed! I'm tired of international moving!  [smiley=dizzy2.gif] It's difficult to find your footing for sure. Sending you hugs.

Meli_Snell, it is beautiful here. I live on the north coast now in a little village near Coleraine, but we first lived in Belfast. Lots of castles, gorgeous coastline and forests. Wales is equally as gorgeous though. Lucky you! :)

Welcome Cyndi, glad to meet you. I'm from Eastern Iowa, so if you're from northern Illinois, I'm a bit familiar with it.

I hope you'll make yourself at home here. I'm sure we'll all be able to learn some good settling in tips from you, having been through the international moving so many times. :)

Hey, I love N. Ireland too. Great people, great pubs, loads of history, tales of courage and strength. How are you adjusting over there? :D  :-*
Good things come to those who wait...a really long time.
