Question on Council Tax Help please

I checked on council tax for an apartment wich falls on band A, and it´s about 55-60 pounds..my question is is this what I have to pay anually? 60 pounds or these 60 pounds are monthly?

That would be £60 a month. I am not sure if this is true for every council but we pay 10 months out of the year with a two month break.

Hey, I wanna live there! When we moved last month we thought we were getting such a great deal (bigger house, cheaper rent) until we got our council tax bill!  :o

Well, you could try moving to the Irish Republic.  They scrapped the old "rates" (local taxes) for most homes way back in the 1970s, leaving a property tax only for expensive homes where the owner also had a high income.   Even that has gone now though -- Apparently the Irish supreme court declared the tax unconstitutional a few years ago, so there are no rates/council tax/property tax there at all now.  You just have to pay for refuse collection.

Or try the London Borough of Wandsworth...SERIOUSLY low council tax, and a nice place too.
