I've heard mixed reviews of the Chili's in Canary Wharf.  Now, I've seen the menu & the prices are a little high compared to what we're used to back home, but what I want to know is how is the food?  Half the websites say it's terrible & half of them say it's great.

I think I want to take FH out to an "American" restaurant for his birthday next week, but I'm undecided where.  My budget is limited, so nothing exorbitant, but I could afford Chili's-type prices for the 2 of us.  We've already eaten at Bodean's (BBQ HEAVEN) & Outback Steakhouse (I used to work there) before.  Is Chili's worth a go?  Just how expensive/quality is the Texas Embassy as an alternative?

Sorry if this is a thread hijack...I just want to know price levels vs. quality at some American-style restaurants around London so I don't get fleeced.

I think the food at Chilis tastes exactly the same. We used to live near Canary Wharf and ate there quite often. Granted, I only had chips and salsa, Chicken Ranch Sandwich, and Chicken Crispers, because those were my favourite and I stuck to the same thing, but they tasted the same as back home to me. The only thing I didn't like was the price......but it was worth it when I was missing home.

I've never been to Texas Embassy, so I'm not sure about it as an alternative. I'm interested to hear what others say. I've always wanted to try it, but I've heard its a bit pricey. (I haven't actually checked for myself)

We are going to Chili's at Canary Wharf tomorrow for my husband's birthday.  We love it.  The food is great and the steak is one of the best I've had in the UK for that price.

Yes, Outback UK has both Alice Springs Chicken & the honey wheat loaf (though you have to pay for it - not complimentary).
