3 Things I Can't Find in Ireland....Anyone?
« on: January 27, 2004, 08:07:28 PM »
Ok, so I haven't moved yet, but I've been keeping an eye out for my essentials when I'm over there and I haven't been able to find:

PAM (Non stick cooking spray, i like the fat free butter flavored)
EGGBEATERS - u know, like egg whites?
CANS OF SAVORY BLACK BEANS - the mexican section only has refried, with lard in them and i'm a veg

Anyone know any product equivalents for me to look for?

Thanks again for the amazing and always helpful info!

Nancy ;D

I'm in Northern lreland so l am afraid l can't be much help unless you want to drive across the border!  ;D

l do know they have cooking spray it's not PAM but it's just as good in my opinion. l will check out to see if this one store here in town who carries a huge range of mexican food to see if they have the savory beans for you! As far as the egg beaters, will check on that too for you. This store is great for stocking American type food, just wish now they would get in the Betty Crocker Suddenly salads yummm! Funny thing is is that this store is not even a Brand name like Tescos or Sainsburys. It's a big mom and pop type of store!

Might be a nice 2 hour ride from Dublin just to stock up on American food!

Most supermarkets carry dried black beans. OK, they are a bit fiddly to cook, rather than just opening a tin, but they sure satisfy the itch!

I find dried black beans SO fiddly to cook that I ended up throwing the whole batch out. I'm going to have to stick to the tins.  :-/
