Registry marriage in Scotland
« on: August 19, 2006, 09:26:17 PM »
Hi everyone,
We are going to get married overseas (Thailand) in a year and a half, but need to get married "on paper" as soon as possible.

We want to have the most basic, easiest marriage with no guests (I know we have to have 2 witnesses, not sure who we will have do that but maybe we can get someone at the hotel to do it??).

I know we have to complete a COA form and then put in notice to get married at the office we choose.

My question is has anyone done this recently, and specifically do we have to have 7 days residence in the district where we get married like you do in England / Wales (if you don't live in the area)?

Any advice etc would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Katie
