new-to-group & expecting my first =)
« on: January 29, 2004, 07:32:26 PM »
hello everyone,..
just wanted to drop by and give a quick introduction before reading the posts in this topic :)
i'm currently expecting my first, (i'm 20 weeks, 5 days today) and living in america, while my partner (& the baby's dad) lives in england. returning from a lengthy stay in england last year to find out i was pregnant was certainly a surprise, but now that the morning sickness has 98% ended, things are much easier to handle.
my other half and i have been discussing and looking into the visa process in order for me to settle in england permanantly. (although any applying & traveling for me is put on hold until i receive my renewed passport in the post..)

i look forward to reading thru this group and learning about the other members =)

(oh..by the way, my due date is june 12th  :)  :) )

Oooh, my birthday is June 11! :) NEAT!
And I see you had morning sickness like me, mine didn't go away FULLY until about week 23. Glad that part of it's over. :)
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

june 12th would be an especially special day for me to deliver because it would have been my grandmother's 94th birthday. (but i know that chances of actually giving birth on the estimated due date!!)

i didn't find out i was pregnant until was nearly 11 weeks. when i found out, all my sick symptoms and extreme fatigue finally made sense! my morning sickness finally ceased around 15 and a half weeks and now i only get vague moments of nausea.

at my ultrasound appointment today, i found out (with the help of my very un-shy baby ;) ) - that i'm having a boy. i already had a feeling that i was having a boy, and now that i know, the finding the name game begins :)

Aww..a boy..how sweet lunar. :) I wanted to know with both my boys what they were but they were shy and wouldn't show..lol. Actually with my 2nd son they said they "thought" they saw something and it didn't look like the umbilical cord but they couldn't be sure. :P
I hope your little boy is born on your grandma's birthday like you want. There's something special about shared birthdays. I was born on my favorite uncle's birthday. :)

Hi lunar, I am expecting my first also, due July 7. My husband and I might be moving to the UK later this year, depending on his job situation.

Are you delivering in the US or UK? I will be delivering in the US and staying here for the first few months postpartum.

:)

how far along are you? (i'm 23w2d now) at my last u/s i didn't get to see my little one do a whole lot because squirm about and push his little face into the placenta. but the amount of movement and somersaults i'm feeling now make up for it :) :)

That was my favorite part - - - and continues to be, though now it feels as if he's going to break through my skin and pop out the wrong way, a la Alien. :D

I remember being 9 weeks along and thinking 34 weeks seemed like AGES away, and I can't believe how fast it's crept up on me, and hoe soon it will be when we have a real outside-the-body baby!!!!!!!!!! :D

I hope your flight went well, Philip (our baby's name) didn't like me very much when I flew with him overseas when I was 22 weeks along, but I was still morning sick so I suppose that didn't help. :/ Hope your trip back goes well!

come to think of it now.. i found out i was pregnant when i was 11 weeks, and now i'm 23weeks, so i guess time just does pass by quickly..  quicker than i think!
(is this your first that you're expecting?)

the flight i just took (feb 13th landing feb 14th) went very well. i slept and was not sick at all. :)
when i came over for 3 weeks over the xmas holiday and new year, the flight was rough. i was sick  [smiley=puke.gif] and the flight was bumpy.
i, too, am hoping for a peaceful return flight (i will be just about 31 weeks then.) and even more so, i'm hoping to be returning to the states to obtain a visa to return here. :)

Ooh, I hope you get a bulkhead seat for your flight back! You'll be shocked at how much you grow from now to then! I know I was, but then again I'm freaking GINORMOUS. Well, my bump is anyway. And yep, this is my first. :)

So what did you find out about medical care while youre in the UK now? Are you able to see the midwives over here on a temporary basis, or did they give you grief over it?

*hoping for a visa for you as well!*

ohhh... i definitely think i will need a bulkhead seat! i couldn't image having the tray in front of me or the seat in front of me reclined with a much bigger belly.

i phoned the local surgery and they recommended i phone the NHS helpline and explain my situation and see if they can point me in the right direction, (i plan to phone them later today or tomorrow) - if i don't receive any direction there, i will probably start phoning a few private surgeries (even though i know i'm covered under the NHS, i figured it's a good place to start..)

:)
