Two Academic Semesters or One?
« on: September 09, 2006, 12:46:39 PM »
Hi everyone,

Does anyone know whether on average UK Unis have two semesters such as their counterparts in the US?

Is it possible to begin a course of study after winter holiday or must one begin typically every fall?

Thanks!!

I think most UK unis operate on a three-term system, beginning in late September/early October and ending in late June.  However, some unis are on a semester system similar to the US, with Semester 1 running from September-January and Semester 2 running from February-mid June.  I think you might be able to find some courses here and there that begin in the winter, but the vast majority start in September only.
