I'm glad she had a place to stay last night too.  I'm in the States, but have Vonage and was tempted to call her, but saw this rather late in the day on Sunday.  I hope she gets in touch with those of you who have offered assistance.  I can't imagine being put on the street with kids in a foreign country.  I feel so sad for her.

Hi all
I dont have regular access to the internet anymore.Sorry I couldnt check the messages sooner. All The messages and replies have warmed my heart. Thank you.
I am temporarily staying with a woman and her 3 daughters. I am grateful for the crowded situation.......as its very cold here. But have no more options now......I must find private rent.....I am not allowed access to public funds. And hostels only take single people. I cannot be seperated from my boys right now......it's tramatic for them, and we need each other right now. So if anyone knows where I can find cheap rentals in north London I would appreciate the news. I am working 2 jobs and it will still be very hard to pay for private rentals. Any suggestions?
Thanks for all your notes of support.......that which doesnt kill me, makes me stronger. I'm staying .......and fighting for what I want and need.

Hello Gail,

I am not sure, but I think YHA hostels take families, as I have seen them there before. Here is one in North London:

YHA -Hampstead Heath Youth Hostel, 4 Wellgarth Rd, London, NW11 7HR
phone: 020 8458 9054

Good Luck

Let's take our wigs off in the shopi aisle and fight it out.

Gail...

Have you contacted Shelter, the charity that focuses on housing the homeless?

Also, the Citizens' Advice Bureau should be able to point you in the right direction, particularly in terms of how you stand legally. Irrespective of your citizenship, I do not think your husband has the right to kick you out of the house!

But for longer term affordable housing, look for Housing Associations in your area. Again, Shelter would probably be able to advise you if you can't find them in your phone book.

An on topic reply to Sweet Peache's post...

Just to make the OP aware, the definition of 'Domestic Violence' under UK immigration law is very specific.  It is going to be the case that, unless there has been specific acts of physical abuse which have been recorded as such by the police/hospital that there won't be anything within that post which will help you.

However, please do continue to PM me and I'll help where I can.

Vicky

Just catching up with this ... Women's Refuge may be able to help with temporary accomodation in this situation and can certainly advise you on what other assistance you may be eligible for. As far as they are concerned, verbal and emotional abuse is domestic violence and they will help you.  Gailwinds, please feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

Has anyone heard more about how this woman and her kids are doing?  They've certainly been in my prayers.
