Peanut Butter
« on: November 18, 2006, 04:09:26 AM »
An English woman living in Boston told me that Sun Pat PB is pretty close to Jif. Can anyone second this? The only PB I've had in Europe-- even the stuff that comes in a plastic jar and garish label-- tastes like natural PB, and is therefore bland as can be.

Will Sun Pat do the trick, or can anyone recommend another brand that will replace my beloved Jif?

Jen's given you plenty to read, but I did want to say: Sun Pat tastes NOTHING like Jif or Skippy.

Thanks, guys! There's a Sainsbury's close to where I'll be moving, so I'm set! Yippee!!!

And I'll stay away from Sun Pat-- Jif would never separate! And it's the dsigusting unhealthiness of it all that makes it so good! Why is that so hard to understand?

;)

We get Skippy from Costco but it's also in Sainsbury (just smaller jar)  we could not live without our peanut butter!

someone posted ages ago about ALDI having American peanut butter. They have small jars for 59p that are exactly like skippy. I get 4 at a time.  ;D

Yeah, I can't stand Sun Pat at all. Tried it once, and will never touch it again.  On another note, if you ever come across a sweet shop called "Sweets From Heaven"  I have found the larger 18 oz Jif!

I only eat natural peanut butter at home (switched over ages ago for health reasons - because I eat LOTS of pb), so actually most of the brands in the UK come much closer to that than normal American-style pb.  They have a lot less sugar and tend to separate like the natural stuff.  The only other thing I've found is that when you get crunchy style, it's not just crunchy, it's practically unspreadable!  I like the chunkiness of crunchy, but this is a bit much!

It doesn't taste anything like Jiffy... Do not be fooled!!! :D

My favorite brand is Skippy which I can get from Fenwick's luckily.
I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

i've found that the morrison's & sainsbury's store brands are just as good as the store brands i used to buy at jewel or dominick's in the states.

I get those as well.  They taste just as good as JIF to me.  I buy both the smooth and crunchy. I noticed on the jar that they are made by some company in Georgia.
