[SPLIT] Advice needed (was Getting Started)

Hi Ashley! I need help. I'm an American looking for work, hopefully. I am visiting my girlfriend here in England, well now I would like to stay if I could. What can I do about obtaining a work permit/ visa to work here, sponsorship, fees? I feel almost desperate. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would surely appreciate it!

You might want to take a look at the immigration boards.  If you are not planning on marrying your girlfriend within the next six months, it might be a question of finding a suitable job and an employer willing to sponsor the work permit, or there may be some other route.
