I find myself in possession of a Betty Crocker cake mix for gingerbread :), which I'm planning to make tomorrow before we get together with some friends.

Does anyone have a good easy glaze/icing recipe to suggest?  The box shows kind of a white glazed icing over it - box recommends using prefab Betty Crocker icing too, but I'll want to make my own.

Cake, not cookies, right?

I actually have a recipe for a lemon sauce that is amazing with gingerbread. Let me know if you are interested... I don't personally like the plain, sweet icings for it. The lemon really compliments it.

I made the gingerbread cake!  And yes, balmerhon, the lemon sauce appealed -- but I found this one to tide us over:

And it was a big hit with my friends & their 7-year-old daughter & 3-year-old twins!  In fact, I should have made a double batch (but I had only one gingerbread cake mix) because people were fighting over seconds & there was nary a crumb left! :P

Sorry Carolyn, I completely forgot to check this thread again. I'll PM you the lemon sauce recipe in a day or 2 - I have to dig it out and I'm not home tomorrow. It's one of my absolute faves!

Yesterday I made my second fruitcake of the season, a treacle tart and those potato chip cookies that I posted the recipe on another thread.  They were sooo good!
