Well, I'm not attending yet but I'm applying to at least Westminster and LSE for Fall 2009. Last year, while I was still in high school, I applied to the Uni of Manchester for Russian and Japanese. I didn't accepted my place there because I didn't want to choose Russian over Japanese, which I've been taking for three years already.

Applying there...was interesting. I wasn't used to using UCAS but it's quite handy and is quite similar to the Common Application in the US. I spent a long time writing my Personal Statement, about a couple of months :( I ordered a Prospectus and read it through. I sent a BUNCH of emails to universities all over the UK  ;D Sending them documents like my transcript was bothersome. American University (in DC) got my transcript quickly and informed me of so, but I never got such notice from Manchester. I figured that the post would take longer internationally than domestically obviously but eventually I had to fax my stuff there. I had to call them and ask where to fax it and also pay to send my ACT scores and my AP scores...but otherwise I had no problems with applying to Manchester.
09/29/09--Visa Approved!
10/05/09--Leave for the UK!!!
06/15/12--Back in the US indefinitely...

I'm at SOAS (Uni of London). I love my course and the profs and the blatantly non-mainstream environment but student services and facilities are oversubscribed. Easy to feel frustrated.  Also, things don't get repaired and everything just moves at a slower pace.  ???

Hi All,

I'll be doing a MSc in Political Sociology at LSE starting Fall 2009. I'm really looking forward to it.

Samantha, I'm sure you'll be able to go where ever you want to! My qualifications are not even close to being in the same league as yours. <g>

SOAS was a top contendor for me. It's a great sounding school. It sounds perfect for you.  I decided not to specialize in Africa and to concentrate on American Third Culture Kids, so LSE was a better fit.

Good luck, everyone.

Amy

Hey everyone,

I have applied to 8 institutions in the good old UK for graduate school. Currently I have heard from 2 and it's already becoming a problem trying to decide where to go!

I've been accepted into the film programs at Aberystwyth University and St. Andrew's. Any and all comments you might have on these schools/locations would be SO helpful, as I'm unable to visit beforehand. Thank you!!

Caroline

I'm going to be studying statistics as well, (well social research methods and statistics to be exact) and I'm excited about it!! I mean I am a little nervous about the difficulty but I'm looking forward to it!! Statistics jobs are in high demand right now, so that's a plus!  Maybe we'll be able to make some money in the coming years!

Haha! Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. :]  Are you doing an undergraduate degree or a postgraduate? I'm curious, because I have a degree in Sociology, so seeing anything "social research" or that could possibly be related makes me excited. :]
