Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can give us any ideas about where to look for housing in the west London suburbs. We live in Uxbridge now (my husband is a lecturer at Brunel University) but would like to buy something and don't think that we want to settle here for good.
We'd like to live somewhere nice, low crime, within reasonable reach of central London (I could conceivably end up working there in the future), where we won't have to pay an arm and a leg for a house (meaning under about 250K). We'd also like somewhere with good state schools--our son is not yet school age but I'm sure he will be before we know it.
I know that this is everyone's description of an ideal place to live

but I would love any suggestions anyone could throw our way. We've been thinking about places like Marlow, Windsor, Gerrard's Cross, etc. (although I know that it probably wouldn't be possible to live in those places given our budget, but just for an idea of what we're looking for).
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Jade
