I have a spouse visa, now how do we get a green card?

So I'm all settled in with my visa and happy as a clam, but within the next ten years we'd like to try living in the states for a while. (I'm from Kentucky, he's from Leeds, where we live now). So when and if we do decide to head to America, will I have to go live there alone while he waits for his green card, or can I live here while we're waiting for it? Anyone know anything about the process?

Depending on the requirements at the time you decide to relocate you may be able to file the I-130 at the US Embassy in London.

You will have to show a certain level of income which may or may not be achieved by moving to the States first in order to get a job - it totally depends on your circumstances at that point in time.

It's best to ask more on the process closer to the time because there have been so many changes already and there will likely be further refinements in the future.
