Hey Jenny!

Do you know what part you guys are moving to? Have you decided on Yorkshire? (it's the hippest county in England, after all.  ;) )

Ashley you don't spell cheshire that way  ;D as everyone knows Cheshire has way more hips in it than yorkshire.

And Hello Jenny I haven't been in this group long and I am English and have never moved anywhere but the people in here are like a breath of fresh air at a sprout eating convention during a 38 hour lock in.  They are helpfull fun and very complicated  ;D .  So I can't offer you much advice unless you want any info about cheshire but Hello anyway.

Hi Ashley, :)

We don't know yet. Hubby has one interview scheduled for Friday of next week, and that is in Kent. We have desperately been looking up north for opps, but the hiring in the Personal Injury field seems to be more in the SE at the moment. Believe me, his CV has gone to all of the PI firms in Leeds and York and surrounding areas. Fingers crosssed an opp will pop up soon. :)

Well keep us informed! If you're moving near my neck of the woods then I must take you out for a welcome drink!

We knew it would be difficult, but neither of us was prepared for the reality check that followed the move. He was given honest feedback that if he did not match what employers were looking for to the "T", then he did not have a chance in hell in finding work suitable for him. It has been disappointing to say the least. Of course, questions have been answered and we now can move back knowing that England is where we will settle for good.

Wow... what a tough & expensive way to get your questions answered, eh!
Good luck to you both for the future.   :-*

Hey Jennifer!

This is your pal from redneck hell (trisha).  Hope all is well!  E-mail me when you get the chance and I will e-mail you my private (i.e. NOT WORK) e-mail and explain some of the questions from my last e-mail.

Oh that sounds v. secretive but I just don't want to go into detail through my work's e-mail.

sorry we couldn't see you before you left, let me know if you need anything from home.  we could work out a grits & Heat magazine exchange program if you like!

Hi Trishaaa. :)

Very secretive indeed! I cannot wait to find out the details. I'll bet that I can guess.  I have pmed you my details :)

Hmm, will pass on the grits, but might hit you up for some Hidden Valley Ranch packets or some Unisom sleeping tablets.

Jennifer-
Does that mean you are officially HERE now?  How are you settling in?

Hi Kat,

Glad that you asked, :) I typed an update last night, only to have lost it after losing connection with the internet  >:(
Anywho, I thought I would come on today and try again, :)

You know, it's really different this time around. It's almost like my frame of mind has changed so much that it's all not so bad over here. Last time I moved over, hubby had already found a job and chosen the place for us to live. I hated it. I felt that most of the people were snobby and the property was way out of our reach. Of course, I later found that the people only seemed snobby on the surface and ended up making some friends in the end. The property problem was there to stay though. I know that this was not only in Berkshire with the property prices, but it really is rip off central.

Hubby has two interviews next week. One in Leicester and one in Sheffield. Neither place jumps out and says "fabulous" to us, but we are going along anyway to see what it's like. Hubby also has an interview lined up here in Bristol. I'm liking it here at the moment. Aside from the fact that the house prices are a smidgen cheaper, I like the amenities here. A huge mall, TGIF's, WB cinema, other American style restaurants, Starbucks, and a university. It does seem to be a happening place. The people seem pretty nice too. :) We'll see.

Again Kat, thanks for asking.

I know there are a few members on here who live in Sheffield, Leicester, and Bristol. I would appreciate it if you could give me your opinions on these places--good and bad, :)

Thank you.

Jenny

Jenny-
Glad you are settling in OK.  I think the element of choice certainly plays a big factor in liking or disliking a place.  I HATED London the first time I lived here, as I just had to move in with DH as he was at Uni.  However, this time, it isn't so bad because I chose it.

I know I have said this before, but I think Bristol is fab.  It is a vibrant city with loads to do, but the location can't be beat--near wales (go to the Gower penninsula--you are only about an hour away and it is Amazing!), close to cornwall and the sea and not to far from other main cities--B'ham, London...

Welcome Home!
Kat
