In-N-Out
« on: May 18, 2007, 08:18:26 PM »
Is it possible to freeze a cheeseburger, send it in a box with freeze packs from California to the UK, and the burger still be ok once you unfreeze it? Or is it even possible to ship over food with freezepacks in to keep it frozen?

I really miss my cheeseburgers  :-\\\\

I have a feeling that it isn't possible to keep food frozen for a week while it's being handled by the postal people, or without customs not confiscating it.....

I wouldn't think so but if it did work I have a list of things I plan on having sent once we move!

If you want to make some really good burgers yourself I have a really EASY recipe that everyone raves over. :D

1. Ground beef
2. Mrs. Dash - flavor to your liking.
3. Worcestershire Sauce - enough to soak the meat.
4. Cheese

The best way to cook them is out on the grill however you can do them indoors as well in a frying pan which is what I usually do since I never have a grill. The best part is that you don't have to use any butter or anything else as the burgers tend to ooze as they cook. Oh and if you do it on the grill, there's lots of flames. YEAH! :D

My husband had a similar idea for getting a Carls Jnr burger shipped over but soon realised it wasn't going to get past customs. He goes to Burger King instead!  ;D  You might also try GBK for a decent, if pricey, burger. (http://www.gbkinfo.com/GBK_Locations.htm)

I have similar dreams of shipping over burgers from Shake Shack and Corner Bistro in NYC. Luckily I'll be there in 3 weeks, and will definitely be hitting up both of those places...perhaps more than once!

I forgot how nice they were until I had a cheeseburger last week. Burger King has nothing on them!

You can ship them in dry ice but you'd have to send it courier - 48 hours.  Then they would stay frozen.

I dreamed about in-and-out burgers the other night.  How funny!

I've never been to an In-N-Out but based on the "animal style" order, I am now intrigued.  All this and I don't eat red meat!  But, still intriqued.  Will have to find one stateside and drag my meat-eating DF.  ;D

Dar, I believe they're only on the west coast, so if you're headed there, you're good to go!

This thread keeps reminding me of the episode of MASH where they had ribs and sauce sent to Korea from a hometown haunt :D

I am only going as far West as San Antonio this summer so, I guess DF is out of luck.  But, he will have some good Texas ribs, so he should be all set (I just won't tell him about In-N-Out  :P).

I remember that episode!  Ha ha!
