Which Visa? and Do i need one to visit for 5 days?
« on: March 07, 2004, 08:53:58 AM »
JUST TO ASK :

1. I am looking online at Visas ( and yes iam so confused with some of those rules its like they are double standards on things..)  and I think if i want to go like in the summer and stay a while i should apply AFTER I VISIT in April...
for the  Vistitors working visa. The one where u can apply to visit and if u happen to get work then YAY!! that sounds good right?

OKAY
NOW I am going to London from April 8-13th. Do i need an entery Visa for that? what is that anyway? I just have a passport!
  Thanks
Shala

For the visit in April you shouldn't need anything but your passport.  It's just a short visit and that's all you intend to do is visit, so there seems no need.

As for the visitor's working visa, I don't know that much about it to really offer any advice, but I would probably go the route of waiting to apply until I got back from my trip in April.

Best of luck!

It does sound good, but I dont think such a visa is available to Americans.  You basically have your standard tourist/visitors visa, your fiancee visa and settlement (marriage) visas.
Then there are work permits... these have to be applied for by your employer once you have been hired for a job.
And then there is the HSMP (highly skilled migrant) visa, which i know nothing about.

I agree with Broxi - I think the working visitor visa is only for those from Commonwealth Countries?

The working holiday maker visa is only for commonwealth countries, mainly I think, Oz and NZ, Canada and South Africa. Americans are not eligible.

If you recently or soon will graduate, you can apply for a blue card (BUNAC) visa, which is the same sort of thing but only for 6 months.
