stove-top espresso maker
« on: June 13, 2007, 10:23:02 AM »
My husband has just killed his espresso maker and I want to replace it for Fathers Day. He had a traditional one (Bialetti Moka) but I want to see if there are any fun and funky ones out there that don't cost the earth. He doesn't want an electric one, just the stove-top one.

If anyone has seen one or has some ideas for where to look, let me know. I'm looking thru some of the sites in the Just Do It section but haven't had any luck yet.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Do you have a Lidl near you?

I got a traditional Italian stovetop one in there for about a fiver and it's BRILL.

I got one when I was in Rome about 7 years ago for about £2. I wish I knew where it was because you could have it. It was never used.

The one that just died was from Rome - our Italian friend gave it to us.

We're getting ready to move house probably within 5 weeks. If it turns up somehow it's yours. Frank is bugging me to rummage through some of my 'junk' so it's possible it could turn up.  ;)

Have you checked Ebay?

I see them everywhere. There's an ironmongers type store where we live that sells them. All different sizes too. It's so weird because it's a little shop with all this neat kitchen stuff in the front, then you go in the back, and it's all hardware and tools. Department stores have them as well. I've even seen them in charity shops!
