She was better that the utterly awful 'Ace', at least!  And that rubbish Tegan.

Tegan... or what about Melanie.  All those two could do was scream!   ::)

Okay..best assistants?

1.  Sarah Jane Smith (of course!)
2.  Victoria Waterfield
3.  Rose Tyler

The girls are always so much better than the boys!  Quite a feminist show, really.

I agree, the girls rock. But does anyone else feel like this new one's absolute lurve of the Doctor is a bit too much too soon? I mean, I'm all for some romantic tension, but come on it was like the second episode with her and she was professing undying love!

I totally agree.  The love interest is getting a bit too much.  It was bad enough with Rose and (Tennant's) Doctor, but with Martha it is too much. You'd never have found S-J acting like a love sick school girl.  We all knew she loved The Doctor; she didn't need to say it or be all touchy-feely with him!

I was worried on Saturday that that episode was going down the same route, when Chantho  was talking about how much she loved Prof Yana and that he hardly noticed her...I thought "here goes Russell T with a shmaltzy script again".  He certainly saved it though!

Hmmmm... my top three are:

1. K-9 (he's the best dog ever)
2. Sara Jane, where is my S-J icon when I need it?
3. The first Romana

I have to admit I like the new one, but the love interest is a bit crap.  I like when the assistants are smart and/or useful or at least ready to learn.  I'm not a fan of the ones who just scream... see above post.  But, I have to admit an affection for Brigadier Alistair Lethbridge Stewart.  I don't know why, he always makes me giggle.  I suppose it's because he is always there on about the rules and regulations, and he and Tom Baker's dr. played well off each other.  I think most dr.s disregard his rules really.  Poor character!  :(

Nick Courtney, who plays 'The Brig', is a friend of a friend of mine.  At the beginning of this series I went to a special screening of 'Smith & Jones' at a pub in Farringdon that had been hired out by DWAS, and had the privilege of watching it sat next to Nick!  He is a great guy, and a total scream.  I was sooo awestruck, though by no means the worst there.  You think we're geeks - come to a DWAS event, and you will be reassured that we are but amateurs!

NB. - DWAS - 'Doctor Who Appreciation Society'.  They are not a 'fan club'  ::)

You lucky, lucky girl!  I'm jealous, although not of the DWAS.

I do hope Torchwood gets better; that's a show I really want to like, but just haven't yet.
Hollywood, CA -> London, UK 2004
London, UK -> Long Beach, CA 2007

Best 3 1/2 years of my life!

Same here, Elizabeth.  We watched the whole series, but were disappointed by many of the eps.  The only reason we stuck through it was to watch Captain Jack. ;)
Apparently it's undergoing some changes/revamping as they do the second series--one reason why we won't be seeing Season2 till early next year.

I used to watch Dr. Who on PBS when it came on at 11pm on Saturday nights.  Incidentally, there was a 15 minute show called The Stargazer with Jack Horkheimer that we watched afterwards and it was crazy.  This far too excited astronomer would talk about what you can see in the naked sky but they used outrageous "special effects" in which he'd be sitting on rings of Saturn and would fall off and it was really hilariously bad, but we loved it!

But I digress... Loved seeing that the Master is back!  Now all we need is a return of Davros.  I don't think he's been on the new Dr. Who although I missed a bunch of episodes after the first couple of seasons.  Saw last weeks and it was great, can't wait to see part 2.
And the world first spoke to me in Sensurround

Rather more sensible than that show sounds, but have you seen "The Sky at Night" here with Patrick Moore?   It's a monthly production and been running continuously since 1957.
