Out of Curiosity...

What about those of us UK-yankees who are living here full time...and taking some night classes?  Are we okies to post in here?  Or is it just for those who are only here for studies?
And if anyone is curious...next week I start my second year of taking Japanese.

Yuppers, it is a complicated but beautiful language.    One of the hardest parts is remembering the FOUR different ways of writing!  There's romanji, which is just japanese written with English letters, ie Hajimemashite! There's Hiragana, which is normal Japanese, Katakana which is scientific and foreign words/names, and then of course there's Kanji, which came from China, but doesn't have all the same meanings...

watashiwa nihongo hanashimasu! (I speak a little Japanese) I spent 7 years of in school learning Japanese and Spanish (A year of German.) I really love foreign languages and am learning Hindi and Arabic at the university.

My Japanese teacher was not very strict so long story short we didn't learn as well as we could have. Anyway, I think the toughest part of the language is Kanji which are characters taken from the Chinese---there are well over 20,000 and about 99% of the language is writen in this format.
