So sorry to hear about this. I hope you are able to get some reasonable tickets, and have a safe trip home.

I'm very sorry to hear about your father, and that you'll quite possibly be getting grief for your move when people should be focused on your father. Be strong.

I'm sorry to hear this zeusy.  It's so unfair to have everything happen as it has in what ought to have been such a happy time for the two of you. :(

There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

I'm so sorry to hear about your father. It's hard enough to be separated from family at times like this, but must be especially hard since they aren't happy about your move. ((Zeusy))

I'm sorry to hear of your dad. And hopefully it won't be too hard with your family.

Have a safe trip.

Awww babes im so sorry :(

If they bring up your move just simply say that you being back wasn't about YOU that this time is about YOUR father and they can talk to you at another date/time about it if they absolutely feel the NEED too.  It's your time to say goodbye and you don't want your time or anyone elses time to say goodbye to be tainted by something that really isn't THAT important. This time isn't about you or anyone else...it's about your dad. If all else fails tell them to bugger off!

If you need to talk feel free...you know how to get ahold of me!

Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.

I finally found a flight last night with Delta leaving Gatwick on Thursday and connecting in Cincinnati to go to Philly, yep going west to go east....  I still wish I wasn't going alone but work schedules did not permit Roy to get his passport re-newed and to find someone to cover him at work.  I don't like flying alone, especially now, but I guess it was meant to be this way.  I haven't spoken my Dad since Sunday night but my Mom seems pretty concerned and this is despite the fact they have been divorced for 20 years. So yeah I think I am making the right decision and going home for awhile.  Thanks for all the good thoughts and support it is truly appreciated.

I had to fly home alone for a funeral.  I cried the whole 15 hour travel time.  I think being on my own, I just didn't even try to be brave or strong or keep it together at all.  Do what you have to to get through it!  My thoughts are with you and I hope you have a safe flight hon!  *even more hugs*

Did you tell the airline why you were flying home? I don't know if it's still true, but they used to cut you some slack financially (and try harder to get you seats) for a medical emergency/bereavement. (They may ask you to provide proof, though, which can be grim).

Anyhow, take care of yourself...
