Moving Costs (Again)
« on: March 13, 2004, 10:54:13 PM »
Hi,
after finally winning my arguement with HR Block, they have conceded that I can claim my moving costs from the move back to the US.  However, I have already sent my forms to the IRS.

I suggested to them that perhaps it would be beneficial for me to use the costs next year, as this is when I would actually have worked 39 weeks in the calendar year.

HR Block are saying that this would make no difference, because I cannot claim the moving costs againt my 2004 earning, and that whether I do it now or next year, it will go against by 2003 earnings.  Are they correct ?.

Regards

Bill

Hi Bill

I am confused, I though I did send you a note saying they were deductible !!!!

Anyway, it is technically correct to amend the 2003 return (if the costs were actually paid in 2003) than claim them on the 2004.
