The shipping rates aren't too bad.  I just bought a pair of shoes off eBay from a place in the US and it's costing me $19.95 in shipping!  (I got the shoes for $14.)  Luckily, the exchange rate still justified buying them, even with the shipping.

So $17.95 for up to $75 worth of stuff is decent in my book!

What about any customs on stuff entering the UK?  I have had things shipped here, where the customs charge was nearly as much as the item that was sent :/

Oh dear, I read this subject heading wrong.  Thought it was like, "Queen Victoria had secret ships all over the world"   :-[  No wonder it didn't grab my attention when it was first posted.  [smiley=oops.gif]

That's nothing, Terinth - when I first saw the heading of the thread "Sucking Fingers" I thought that it was going to be about the poor quality of popular music nowadays, and that the initial letters of the words had been deliberately transposed  :o to avoid giving offence!

Hi there, as a former "American living in Scotland" expat and the marketing director of a package forwarding company in the US called MyUS.com, I thought I'd share some advice on shipping. This forum was always hugely helpful to me when I was living there.
There were a lot of times I would make friends ship over my A&F jeans that I needed or Victoria's Secret items, but they weren't always so keen on doing so. An option (that I didn't know about at the time) is to use a company like MyUS.com that allows you to have a US address at their Florida facility, send all your shopping items there, they consolidate and fill out the necessary paperwork and ship whenever you're ready to ship. They're DHL's largest customer so they get much better rates. Sorry for the sales pitch, but I know this is something I wish I knew about when I lived in Scotland.
