For me lately it's been "Far Away" by Nickleback. Hopefully won't be 'singing' much longer! It is fustrating though  ;)

Not one song in particular.  After we first met last summer in Ireland Mike went back home to the UK and I stayed on.  He sent me a mix CD which I listened to constantly before I could join him again a month later.  Then when I went back to the US I listened to it again to feel close to him and to remind me how much I meant to him.  All the songs on it were very personal to him / us.  [smiley=smitten.gif]

When I was living in the US and he was here, I had a mix of songs on my MP3 player that reminded me of him - They were songs we/he liked and silly things we used to listen to together.  Also, songs that were by Brits that I knew of becuase of him but that you wouldn't ordinarily hear in the States - Robbie Williams, Cheeky Girls, Girls Aloud, etc.

I would listen to my MP3 player at the gym while I was trying to get in shape for our wedding - it was especially motivational because it would remind me of him almost every morning  ;D

PS: several of those songs ended up on our CD wedding favor!

I wouldn't say it was one particular song, just any song that reminded me of him and our time together.

A couple really
I adore lucky Jim - you're lovely to me it's so beautiful :)
And some of the lines are just perfect ...

"There's nothing you would not provide
When all is despair you are there at my side
It is you that is near it is you that gives ear
when I pray"
And this verse :
"You're a city that's pulling me still
You keep me from sleeping and strengthen my will
The gates they are strong but they open for song I
have heard"

There's a few coldplay songs as well that get to me, especially "the scientist" both my boy and me are scientists and I love it because even though it's essentially a sad song, the middle part really speaks to me when he feels so far away
"Nobody said it was easy,
It's such a shame for us to part,
Nobody said it was easy,
No one ever said it would be this hard,
Oh take me back to the start.

I was just guessing,
At numbers and figures,
Pulling the puzzles apart,
Questions of science,
Science and progress,
Did not speak as loud as my heart
,
Tell me you love me,
Come back and haunt me,
I want to rush to the start,
Running in circles,
Chasing tails,
Coming back as we are."

Nothing speaks as loud as my heart :)
Also green eyes is written about him :)

"Honey you are a rock
Upon which I stand
And I come here to talk
I hope you understand

The green eyes
Yeah the spotlight
Shines upon you

And how could
Anybody
Deny you?

I came here with a load
And it feels so much lighter now I met you
And honey you should know
That I could never go on without you

Green Eyes

Honey you are the sea
Upon which I float
And I came here to talk
I think you should know

That green eyes
You're the one I wanted to find
And anyone who
Tried to deny you
Must be out of their mind

Because I came here with a load
And it feels so much lighter since I met you
And honey you should know
That I could never go on without you"

the coldplay board is where me and my hubbie became friends and then things took off from there! For our first dance, we had "Sparks"

And this is kinda random, but when my dad is out of the country for a few months(as he is a traveling musician), the song my mom listens to alot is "1000 miles" by Vanessa Carlton. Probably, in part, has something to do with the fact that my dad is friends with Vanessa's father.:-p

There's many songs that make me stop and think of my gentleman, but one in particular that says how we feel about the distance. It's "Missing You Now", by Michael Bolton..yeah..sappy...hehe But we both like this one :)  It more was our "mantra" when we were counting down the days to being able to see each other, and feeling the missing each other even more than usual...actually on the other side of that now, wouldn't mind a song on how to handle being newly apart again *g* (We're trying to plan a meeting for October, so that  helps, knowing a time)

Missing You Now

I talk to you but it's not the same as touchin' you
And every time you whisper my name, I wanna run to you
We'll be together, it won't be long, it won't be long
But it feels like forever, and it's hard to be strong

Chorus:
Baby 'cause I'm missing you now
And it's drivin' me crazy
How I'm needin' you baby
I'm missing you now
Can't wait 'till I'm alone with you
To show you how I'm missing you now

Wishin' you were here by my side is all that I can do
Got my arms around my pillow at night, they should be holdin' you
Thought I was stronger, how could I know, how could I know
I can't take this much longer
It's so hard on my soul

Chorus

Baby I just can't wait
Till I see your face
Chase away this loneliness inside

When you're close to my heart
Right here in my arms
Then and only then
Will I be satisfied
I'm missing you now
We'll be together, it won't be long, it won't be long
But it feels like forever, and it's hard to be strong

Chorus

I'm addicted to the song 'Hey There Delilah' by the Plain White T's right now. The lyrics are really good, it's been on repeat for a long time now...

This is a bit silly but this thread reminded me of when me and my then fiance were enduring our LDR. Everytime we were together in the USA in the car the same song always played on the radio. It was "The Thong Song"   ;D   So everytime we were apart and I would hear that stupid song it would bring a smile to my face.

HAH!  When I met my DH he was wearing a thong (he was a Brit in the US for the 4th and trying to, er, show some patriotism... ::))  So the Thong Song has special meaning for us too!  ;D

I love ryan adams at the moment, I always loved him, then I saw him do an acoustic set on channel 4 and now I love, love, love him.

oh baby why
do i miss you like i do
oh miss my sweet
and the birds all singing blue
and why
and why
call me on your way back home, dear
cause i miss you
honey, that ain't nothing new.

The sigh at the begining is so beautiful, "oh...oh baby..why?"

And Desire, god, the song it just burns through me whenever I hear it

Two hearts fading, like a flower
And All this waiting for the power
For some answer to this fire
Sinking slowly, waters higher
Umm desire, desire

With no secrets, no obsession
This time I am speeding with no direction
Without a reason, what is this fire?
Burning slowly, my one and only
Umm desire, desire, desire, desire

You know me, you know my way
Just cant show me, but God Im praying
That you find me, and that you see me,
And that you run and never tire
Umm desire, desire, desire, desire

I'm pretty like..I don't know, just empty right now, and "shadowlands" is exactly how I feel.
I'm angry like  a salesman, that just couldn't make a sale, threw the wedding rings in the sewer and dammened them all to hell

God please send the rain
Yeah, and send it soon
Let it flood through the houses
Into Judy's room
With a father on amphetamines
Her mother hides the pearls
Reach out into the darkness
And find my little girl
Because she's angry like a salesman
That couldn't make a sale
She threw the wedding rings in the sewer
And damned them all to hell

Please lead her to the mountain
That you fashioned out of sand
While the roaches climb the walls
Of the hotel where he calls
Most people never find a love
Most people never find a love
Sometimes you just can be a man
Sometimes you just can be a man
When your living in the darkness
Of the shadowlands
The shadowlands

When I'm feeling emo, Snow Patrol's "Set the Fire to the Third Bar." When I'm feeling less emo, R.E.M.'s "At My Most Beautiful." (It's going to be our first dance song at our wedding!)
