Manchester Airport - security????

After the increased security level recently, what security was like at Manchester airport.
Has anyone been through there recently?

Hubby arrives next week, and i am picking him up, i went on their web page and it says you can still park in the short stay car parks. HE arrives at 7.30 next Tuesday.

Just wondering if what to expect when i get there, and what timei should realistically arrive there if I am picking him up at that time.

I mean for me, picking him up. With Security being tightened with people entering the airport, I want to meet him in the airport. I was just wondering if measures have been stepped up alot, and if so how might this affect me time wise, in parking and actually being on time for him.

when I flew in and out of Bristol a couple of weeks ago (i.e. right after all these bombs were found and the Glasgow thing) there seemed to be no difference, except that you couldn't drop off/pick up people at the curb. I even went through security faster than ever before. When I came out of customs there were people piled up waiting for their friends/family to arrive.

I flew into Manchester airport a few weeks ago after returning from a holiday in Turkey and I didnt notice any difference.  I went through the non-EU nationals queue (which is ALWAYS shorter anyways) and i was through before DH.  The only question i was asked was 'what is your residence visa issued for' and i said 'marriage' and she stamped me and i was through.

eta...when my parents left Manchester on the 1 July, they couldn't drive right up to the terminal following the Glasgow Airport incident, however since then I believe that they have lifted those sanctions.

Thanks ladies, I have already checked on their website, It just says cant pick up or drop off outside the airport, but can use the car parks.

Just worried in case I cant park there because of that many people having to use them KWIM. So hopefully , fingers crossed that wont be a problem.

My daughter flew out of manchester on Sunday. Short term parking is still available, however, there is only one entrance into it. In the past it used to be two ways to get to it depending on if you were going to arrivals or departures. The queue to the car park was backed up a bit. I would say it took us an extra 15 minutes in total to park and get into the airport.
