Easiyo Yogurt Maker
« on: July 28, 2007, 02:48:05 PM »
I bought a cheapo used Easiyo yogurt maker and I can't seem to get the yogurt made right, even though I am following the directions to a tee...so after I leave the mixture in the yogurt maker over night, it comes out all slimy, not yogurty at all.

Does anyone have one of these? Any hints? Any clues?

Ugh! Sorry, don't mean to sound rude but  I would never use one of those. This is how to make proper yogurt:

There is a different yogurt maker that is bascially just a containner in an incubator - I used to use one of those to keep it at the right temperature but my parents always used to make it ok without one.

My MIL made yogurt that way, the basic recipe, when they were here last summer. But to me it didn't really make much sense to make it......seems a lot cheaper to just buy it. Considering all the milk you have to use.

Yes now that you can get decent yogurt in supermarkets it is probably just as cheap and a lot easier to buy. Wasn't always like that here though.  In the 70s you could only get rubbish like Ski unless you went to a health food place.

Thats what Easiyo is, a container that allows a smaller container to sit on top of boiling water to incubate. I tried with a mix to see if it worked. My mother made home made yogurt when we were growing up...and I suppose you do sound rude without meaning to sound that way. I was just asking for advice.

Sorry I thought Easyo was the one where you mix in some powdered stuff into the milk and that's it.  In that case it sounds like your incubator thing is at the wrong temp. I wish I could remember the brand I had because it was exactly right and i got perfect yogurt every time.
