My mom is in the habit of sending me coffee now, mostly the flavored kinds, she just sent some southern pecan Route 66 coffee that's YUMMY! I've always had a problem getting coffee here, it just seems too bitter.....perhaps because it's stronger as usuk2004 mentioned? Either way, mom just sent four things of coffee, three flavored and one regular, so I'm set for awhile. I would like to find some decent coffee here though, for those emergencies.......what do you all use?

I use only Colombian coffee which is what we're used to in the US.  If you look on the coffee packet, you'll see that there's a number saying what the stregth is.  I always go for a 3 which is medium, but I know you can get milder.  I buy supermarket own brand fairtrade, which tastes fine to me.  :)

No.  There are all different kinds.  But look for Columbian.  :)

I don't drink coffee but doesn't Starbucks sell coffee - in packets I mean, not just by the cup! I imagine they sell the same stuff as in the US. Also have you tried Whittards? They have loads of varieties there, including flavoured ones.

I thought about Starbucks, but haven't been in yet to see what they have. That's on my list next time I've got money! Whittards I'm not familiar with, I'll go google it now. Flavors, yummy!

When we go home to the states, DD is our #1 priority, as it is when people come to visit us. We always bring 8-10 bags of DD Coffee (Hazelnut and Vanilla) home with us. ALWAYS. We haven't been out of DD Coffee now for over a year...we do ration it, as we only drink 1/2 cups of it per day. But its a priority for us.

I'm a huge coffee snob, but after trying pretty much every supermarket available coffee I could find, the only one I found drinkable was Taylors of Harrogate's "Hot Lava Java" - widely available and pretty good. BUT it's very, very high in caffine so it made me a bit jumpy. I actually belong to Peet's coffee club (thanks to Mrs Pink). I get 2 pounds a month shipped over and even with very expensive shipping, the exchange rate makes it worth it to me. If I didn't do that I'd probably go into London every few weeks and pick it up from a proper roasting company....

I wanted to say that Lyons coffee is particularly good, you can buy a good sized bag at Quality Save for about £1.79, I rate it really highly.

I shouldn't have read this thread.

It's raining, blowing and chilly here and now I'm craving a cup of Dunkin' Donuts coffee and a hot glazed donut like mad!

hot damn, i miss me some dunkin donuts!!

and you're right, meggles, their toasted coconuts are divine.

i hate how you can really only find yeast donuts here, and not cake ones. yeast ones just don't do it for me.

as for coffee, we stock up on cracker barrel's whenever we're in the states.

oh dearie me I miss those. Yet another place I'll have to visit when I go to Orlando next month.

This thread made me have a dream about buying 4 dozen DD last night. Wow. I wonder if I ate them all or what. I can't remember.
