Rental Car Companies in the UK - stories/advice?
« on: August 07, 2007, 07:39:17 PM »
I'm flying into Heathrow airport and will be needing to get a rental car to drive to Exeter.  I've looked at a couple of website, but wondered in any of you had experience with this.

I'll have to do a one way rental, which will cost more, and find a way to get back to my house after dropping off the car in Exeter.
Any good rental companies in the UK I might check out?
Any I should stay away from that might give me a bad deal?
What should I expect that's different from renting in the US?

Thanks so much

Avis were always very good for us from Heathrow. The last car I got from them was for a one way rental, (going down a little further south west than you, to Plymouth) which wasn't all that much more costly at all, that I recall.

They were very nice in there and made sure we were all sorted before we left, (car seat for the lil 'un, help with the baggage etc.) particularly the last time when it was just me and the munchkin. :)

I haven't rented from any airport locations - just the local office in Middlesbrough - but Enterprise has been great to us on three separate occasions! :)

i'd use www.kayak.co.uk for car rental deals... shows you who's at heathrow.

I second the opinion of Enterprise.  We used them from a different location but they were incredibly accomodating.
