OMG. He is such a ... well, I'm not going to say...

Like a lot of chefs he can't get out of that whole cordon bleu habit and see that other ways of preparing food are just as good, if not better.  I don't know if you ever watch Masterchef but the 2 judges on there are particularly bad for this kind of thing. Anytime anyone cooks something "ethnic" they usually say its lovely for home cooking but not for a restaurant.  ::)

I haven't seen the Rick Stein show yet, what channel is it on?

BBC2 on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8pm. There are four more episodes left out of six.

Yeah, I've watched Masterchef. That does wind me up a bit. I don't even really enjoy 'cordon bleu' type restaurants tbh!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Another good episode tonight. I really liked the looks of that fava bean puree.

I can't believe Chalky died! I found myself getting a upset when he was out truffle hunting with the dogs and mentioned that. I always liked Chalky.

I really enjoyed the Rick Stein episode last night...yummy.  Makes me want to go visit every place he's been!

As for Gary Rhodes - my MIL would have punched him if he commented on the Indian cooking she and her family have been doing for centuries.  And NO sour cream would not work better in an Indian recipe than yogurt!  ICK!

on television he strikes me as slightly camp. Is it just me? It's kind of weird!

I was actually convinced he was gay when I first saw him. I was disappointed when I found out that wasn't the case.....

I've really liked the look of the recipes from this new show - my boss just bought the book and said she'd bring it in so I could have a look at it....

The Gary Rhodes one bugs me SO much for all of the reasons already discussed - he's SUCH a control freak about stuff that he should really shut up and learn about!  ::) That said, some of the recipes have looked really yummy (without his interference!)

I'm loving the recipes, too! And I can't wait until next week when he gets to Morocco and Turkey!

I think if it wasn't for dh I could eat Moroccan food every night. Oh wait, I've already said I'd eat cheese every night. OK... if it wasn't for dh I would eat cheese and olives one night and Moroccan food the next.  ;D

I'd have cheese for lunch every day and Moroccan food every night. There. Does that work?! I looove Moroccan food!

But ...OMG ... those amazing truffles last night! That guy that just grated black and white truffles onto the pasta dish?!?! How much would that have cost at a restaurant here?!? Wow.

Mmmm. That looked soooo good. I'd chuck some of my £35 million into having truffles somewhat regularly (when not having cheese). I liked the look of that Shepherd's Pie-ish dish too.

Boss brought in the cookbook and I think if I see it on sale somewhere I might pick it up. There's a whole chapter on game that I'd never use and the first part of it is probably only recipes I'd make when people were coming for dinner, but the pasta chapter I can see using quite a bit - the recipes look pretty simple and tasty....

I'd love to have the book but, unless I can find it second-hand at some point for mere pennies, it's probably not worth it for me. All of the meaty chapters are just a waste of paper.  :(

I loved the entire series - and, in fact, enjoyed it more the further he got into the Med. I'm experimenting with a Moroccan-inspired thing tonight. Fingers crossed! I hope it's as good as some of the dishes Rick Stein ate!
