I'm sad to hear this.  When I worked for Bowery Resident's Committee I always walked by CBGB.  I couldn't believe my old boss was actually the cause of it shutting down.  Never got to go see a concert there.  RIP.

I spent most of my childhood at CBGB's at every Sunday matinee that I was allowed to get to. It was really something. The memories and countless amazing bands that played there shaped a lot of the music then and today. I was devastated when it closed and although Hilly died of complications from cancer, I am sure he felt the same that it was gone and a broken heart followed. He will be sorely missed in the world.
