We're having a church wedding so the up and down the aisle music will be something pretty traditional I think. "Our song" though is either going to be 'you're the best thing' by the Style Council or 'Time after Time' by Eva Cassidy. Can't decide!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

This one is written by John Sebastian by sung by Jules Shear. It's really gorgeous!

I've never heard of Jules Shear, but i remember the old Lovin' Spoonful original, and it was a nice song.  Apart from the use of the word 'toddled'.  That bugs me for some reason!

This is an old topic but we just picked our song out so I wanted to join in the fun :)

We're dancing to:

originally by Postal Service --> Iron & Wine's cover "Such Great Heights"

It's in the movie Garden State which is meaningful to us and the song is as well.  We're really exicted about it.  ;D

We had a registry office wedding but we had a formal reception as well as and evening 'do'.  The song we danced to was Brian McKnight "Back at One".

Well hubby picked "Sweet Pear" - Elvis Costello, as the song where they were all gathering & waiting for me to come down.  I think he liked it 'cause it ends with something about a 'wretched groom' -- LOL [smiley=laugh4.gif]...but it was sweet.

Then the bridal 'processional' song was "Moon River" (music by Henry Mancini, lyrics by Johnny Mercer) -- which I've always loved & it fit with a little sort of 'theme' we had going, considering our travel bug...

Moon River, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

- from Anthem, by Leonard Cohen (b 1934)

"at last" by etta james is a personal favorite.  We only had a dinner, no dancing.  But we love, "you were meant for me" by Sting.

I LOVE At Last by Etta James.....

They played that on the inhouse music commercial on the TV when I stayed at Sandy Lane in Barbados. I feel in love with it..

We had a registry wedding so we didnt get to play any music. But we have several songs that we consider "ours"

As Long As You Love Me
Truely Madly Deeply
Color of My Love

At the Registry wedding we had The Four Season's Winter playing.

At the NY wedding I walked down the Isle to  In My Life by the Beatles.  We came into the room as they played Love in an Elevator (Our first kiss was in the Next elevator on the High Street)  and our first dance was to Something by the Beatles.

I had Love is All Around by Wet Wet Wet - the film had just come out and I thought it was about as English wedding-ish as I could get :)

The marriage didn't last and the groom bats ball for the other team now :o
but I have fond memories of that moment and even some people say they think of me when they hear that song and remember the very special day...
"When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford." - Samuel Johnson

I love this topic - I think you can really get a feel for people's personalities by their choice in wedding music.  Our first dance was to Elvis Costello's "I'll Wear It Proudly".  I came down the aisle to "At Last", but only after I was talked out of using "The Imperial March" (from Star Wars).  In retrospect, it was probably best to use "At Last", but I still think it would've been a hoot to come down the aisle to Darth Vader's theme music! ;D
