wedding song

Just curious -
What was your wedding song?
  OR
What song(s) do you think would make a good wedding song?

DF wants something modern and hip, so he suggested "Do You Realize?" by the Flamming Lips, but its not certain yet.  First we must find out the capacity of the Camden Registry office to play music.

I want "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the waves but I think fiance is worried I might start dancing or something. He's asked me to reconsider :)

I would love to have "Yellow" by Coldplay but more because it is significant to us, not because it's really a wedding song.  I have an image of us walking into the reception with that playing...hmm...maybe I'll just keep it for the registry wedding in the UK...I suppose I should ask DF before deciding what our wedding song will be hehehe ;D

hehe.  these are great choices, whether they will be actualized or not.   ;)

My df and I have so many songs that remind us of each other, but they wouldn't make a good wedding song considering that we must have a certain level of appropriateness for our families' sake.   ;)
Thus, David Bowie and the Velvet Underground are out, but we still want something that suits us and we are happy with. ;D

I know what you mean.  Whereas something by Coldplay or some other band might completely suit Steven and me, my gran might not be too pleased with it. ;)  I like a lot of old Sinatra songs, so maybe something along that line.  Maybe "The way you look tonight" ...there's a ton of versions of it, but I love Sinatra's take on it...plus I have memories of DF singing it to me and dancing with me to it. We picked "Come Away With Me" by Norah Jones.  Contemporary, and yet tasteful and timeless.

I don't know if any of you will have heard of our songs: Hymn to Grace and Your Smile Could Stop the Hands of Time both by Roddy Frame (formerly Aztec Camera) chosen because they were both very meaningful for us and indeed if it hadn't been for Mr Frame we would never have met.

our 'first dance' song is Elton John's 'Something about the way you look tonight'

We both love him and that song.   ;D

We walked in to Benedictus by Simon & Garfunkel, and walked out to Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen. :)
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

We got married in our local Registrar's office so we weren't able to have a wedding song! But I wanted to share the song that I would have used ! It's from one of my favourite CD's ever- called Bleecker Street - Greenwich Village in the 60's- a collection of 60's songs redone by current artists. This one is written by John Sebastian by sung by Jules Shear. It's really gorgeous!

Darling Be Home Soon

Come and talk of all the things we did today
Here and laugh about our funny little ways
While we have a few minutes to breathe
And I know that it's time you must leave

But Darling be home soon
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
My darling be home soon
It's not just these few hours
But I've been waiting since I toddled
For the great relief of having you to talk to

And now a quarter of my life has almost passed
I think I've come to see myself at last
And I see that the time spent confused
Was the time that I spent without you
And I feel myself in bloom

So darling be home soon
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
My darling be home soon
It's not just these few hours
But I've been waiting since I toddled
For the great relief of having you to talk to

Go and beat your crazy head against the sky
Try and see beyond the houes in your eyes
It's ok to shoot the moon

No, but darling be home soon
I couldn't bear to eait an extra minute if you dawdled
My darling be home soon
It's not just these few hours
But I've been waiting since I toddled
Fro the great relief of having you to talk to.
