Kitchen Criminals

Anyone watching?

I like Angela Hartnett but think JBR is a bit of an ars*. I like the concept of taking the worst cooks around though - makes an interesting change!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

My husband and I have been watching it and we love it.  I liked the twist with the teams and the looks on their faces when they were told were priceless.

The announcer is distracting though - his pronunciation of 'cook' is driving me up a wall.

I didn't notice it was odd myself. But I'm wondering if it's Geordie/northeast. If so, it would be pronounced with almost a 'ue' sound i.e. like in blue. But as DH says that all the time, I'm used to it so wouldn't notice it!! ;)

FYI, it's on 6:30 pm on BBC2 every weekday.

No, he doesn't pronounce it in a Georgie way at all! It's more like "cuck" and it's terribly annoying! Someone I know suggested that perhaps he's trying to overcompensate for the Geordie accent ("cooook") and it's ending up as "cuck."

I'm liking this programme now, but I really didn't like the audition week. How hard is it to be a bad cook? All they had to do was burn/drop/lose something, and they'd get chosen. But it's far more interesting now that they're actually being taught to cook.

Hmm. Maybe I'll revisit it 'cause I saw the auditions and wasn't interested for exactly that reason - I could have convinced them that I completely suck just be deliberately messing something up! I also thought it was weird to have them bring in something they cooked before. I mean come on, a casserole made three days ago is going to be bad regardless! But if it's better now, maybe I'll give it another go.

I'm not sure if I like either of the chefs tbh. I can't put my finger on why I don't like Angela Hartnett, but I don't....

I have been watching this for a couple episodes and couldn't figure out why I knew about Angela. It dawned on me the other day!  She is one of Gordon Ramsey's protege's!!   I remember reading that Gordon was opening another restaraunt somewhere, I think New York, and was going to give the head chef position to her!  I have been quite keen on seeing if she portrayed any Ramsey traits!

I didnt know that I quite enjoy watching anything with Gordon Ramsey in it, but funny enough I like John better than Angela.
