Hi, I'm new to the site though have been living here for 4 years. Came as a student but am now marrying a Brit. We received a US Kitchenaid mixer for my bridal shower and I'm dying to bring it over here. I don't mind paying for a transformer as I expect it may still be cheaper than buying the UK equivalent Kitchenaid. However, I want to make sure I'm not doing the wrong thing. Has anyone out there tried this? We're both in academia so we expect to spend a good part of our lives going back and forth between US/UK so we don't mind investing in a good transformer.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

You can get a converter for something like 20 quid from ...errrr...   :-[ darn, the name is eluding me at the moment, but its a big chain computer/electronics store.
I got one there and used it for a year without any troubles and intend to bring it back to use for my battery charger.
