What does everyone think the going rate is for B&B?
I use to be 19/6d.

i would like it highly depends on where you're looking for a B&B.  london vs small midlands town.

If you harbour bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

It's the same as a hotel. There's no across-the-board "going rate."

Away from the metropolitan areas.
Thanks

which village/town/hamlet are you looking for?

I'd expect to pay £20 - £100+ for a B&B.  HIGHLY dependent on where & what quality.

if you're on a budget- perhaps a hostel?

Thanks. I feel that I'm passed the hostel stage although some hostels cater to all ages I'm told.
The cost of accommodation is one of the big drawbacks of hoping on a plane to come over the ocean.

where are you trying to go?  what do you want to see?  www.fodors.com has a good forum.  how long are you hoping to travel in the UK?

Because of the distance we usually stay for around three weeks.
We could do two days in London then she wants to see more of north Wales.
We have always stayed at self catering cottages but they seem to be out of sight, price wise,
these days so I was wondering if there was a less expensive way.
Thanks for mentioning F.

Some hostels are as good as B&Bs these days. I stayed in a YHA place in the Lake District once which was something like £10 per night per person and included breakfast! There were people of all ages staying there too, kids, grandparents, you name it.

But actual B&B prices really vary depending on location and what they have to offer. You could pay anything between £20-£80 per night outside the big cities.
