What section at Tesco? I got some from Ocado (Waitrose delivery), but haven't seen it at Tesco.
I can't remember it's been awhile since I bought it. I'm pretty sure it was near the breadcrumbs. You can always get it at tesco.com if you can't find it in the store.

eta...make yourself a brisket...every holiday in my family is celebrated with a brisket!!!

Ugh, tell me about it!  And I HATE brisket.  Although, my FIL has a recipe that involves an entire 2 liter bottle of Coke that isn't too horrible.

But for me Rosh Hashanah is all about the sweet stuff - cookies, honey, apples, tsimmes... yum!

See? the Coke is the key ingredient.
Although I have always been puzzled about the fine line between brisket and pot roast.
My grandma was the pot roast queen, I have never been able to replicate it.

I should make my applesauce cake this week to celebrate, yum!

I want to make something fun for lovely little jewish lady I visit, who doesn't have any family to spend the holidays with.

I found a recipe for Kugel.  That sounded yummy.  This one has pineapple in it, which I am allergic to.  Can I replace with just about any fruit?

Is this a good one for Rosh Hashanah?

Thanks!

I would make an apple-cinnamon kugel.  Yummy!  I'm sure you can get a recipe by googling for it, or I have one that I can pm you.

kugel is the one dessert-like thing I dont like that much  :( They used to serve it to us with cottage cheese at Jewish sleepaway camp.
I agree that apple and cinnamon is the way to go. I bet it would cause a huge 'sweet vs savory' debate amongst the Brits :D

How sweet are you!  I know I've had kugel with Raisins in it, but apple-cinnamon sounds really good.

Mrs Kev, no wonder you don't like kugel, that sounds gross :P

Happy New Year Jewish (and wannabe Jewish) people!

What an odd (and slightly gross) combination.  That sounds like one of those desperation meals I've thrown together when there's nothing in the fridge!
