Hello from Baltimore via Exmouth
« on: March 26, 2004, 12:48:52 PM »
Greetings from Baltimore!

OK, it was four years ago that I moved here.... I knew about this site but for some reason forgot about it! Right bummer! Anyway, I've been here since 2000 and have lived in Reading, Kendal, Carlisle, Newcastle and now Exmouth. I'm marrying my Geordie fiance in October. Now that I know I'll be here for at least several more years (we may move to the States at some point) it's great to find this site as I find myself more homesick now than I did when I first came!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Thanks, what part of the Eastern Shore are you from? Do you get back much? I just went home for an early bridal shower but wish I could get back this summer. I miss the backyard lifestyle in the States in the summers. Don't get me wrong, though, Devon is amazing!

I'm from Easton.  Most likely you've passed through it on the way to OC.

I've only been back once since I moved here.  I have very little family (distant) left in the area.  However, like you, I miss the backyard lifestyle too.  I also miss the Bay and the lifestyle associated with that.  It may sound funny, considering that the UK is surrounded by water, but life on the Bay is definitely different to life on an island.

Hello, yes, it's just a take on the lovely local accent. As I've already confessed elsewhere, I don't actually posess the accent myself but it sure makes a great screen name!

We lived in Newcastle for 4 months (fiance is a Geordie) and we really miss the area.

Wow! You really made the rounds! Which part of the country is your favorite?
Married to Graham, we run our own open-source computer training company in beautiful Wiltshire out of our 1814 Georgian Regency home (a former lodging house and once featured in Antiques Roadshow)

Better late than never so welcome Balmerhon!  ;D

I didn't know about this site until after being here for a couple years and don't know how I could have missed it with all the searching for info I did.  :-/

Regardless, hope you enjoy it here as much as I do and also that you get over your homesickness!
