What is your Easter dinner consisting of?
« on: March 30, 2004, 09:29:15 PM »
It seems we are hosting my fiancee's best friend and family for easter dinner.  This, of course means yours truly is cooking her first meal (and a big one at that) in the UK without being familiar with the kitchen or foods....but lets put my annoyance aside for a bit  >:( and share what you serve on Easter.

Thanks!

Traditionally, you're meant to serve lamb.

But me personally?  We dont do anything special for Easter, so it's whatever i take out the freezer.

I think I did Easter last year...and I think I did ham.  Would love to do lamb, but my oldest won't eat it.

Now I'm wondering who is doing Easter this year... ???

I'd like to do a ham but would settle for lamb. That said, I don't want to do an Easter version of the roast lunch, God knows you can get that enough here anyway. So I'm going to be looking for interesting side dishes. We may be hosting another Brit and his French girlfriend. If that goes thru, I'd like to see what the French traditionally have for Easter and see if I can try something new!

Well as Easter is my first day as a married lady, I don't think I'll worry about cooking.  We will probably crash my brothers Easter dinner.  That's usually ham and a chicken and noodle dish.  Good luck Aimiloo.  Nothing like a trial by fire eh?  :P

Marks & Spencer has about 5 different types of hot cross buns - I'm going out of my head trying to decide!   :o

I have to make my own as they are much harder to find here.  With my new bread maker they should be easier as I can do all the rising in the bread maker except for the final rise.

Hot cross buns go well with a lot of things...
my big thing is whether to add peel or no peel...

My husband volunteered me to make some for his office for Good Friday.  Sucks that we don't have those days off here. :-(
