What's with the posh McDonald's?
« on: October 20, 2007, 09:05:57 AM »
Anybody seen McDonald's lately? The ones in Peterborough have all ditched the traditional red and yellow for a strange modern look with chocolate brown walls and white booths and leather sofas usually found in over-priced gastro pubs. It looks nice, but c'mon, this is McDonald's! This whole posh look is just wierd.  :-\\\\

It was reported some time back that McDonalds were going to revamp and modernize, trying to change their image a bit.  Guess the outlet in Peterborough was one of the first

Huh.  Once, somewhere in Jersey, I stopped in a McDonalds that had a "gourmet" section, freshly made sandwiches and soups.  I had never seen the like before or since.  This was, maybe, 2 yrs ago?  I wonder if this was a part of the poshing up process?

the one here got done up as well. They even have leather chairs instead of those classic wooden ones. I give that no more then 6 months before those chairs get destroyed

Many of the McDonalds back home (Madison, WI) looked like this before I left in June 2006.  However, I haven't seen any like that in the UK so far...and for some reason we always seem to end up at one on a road trip, so I have seen a fair number here.  Especially those along the M5 and the M6  :)

DF says they look like Foxton's offices now.

There's jokes to be made about the similarities between the companies...

LOL!  OMG, that is so true!  In town Foxtons and McD's are almost right across from each other.

Even the one on the high street in M'bro has gotten all gussied up!  You KNOW they're trying hard when the renovation stretches to Teesside....  ;D
