Sorry, Dave, at least you tried but I swear the rootbeer here tastes good.  You need to try the American kind.  Guess you'll have to come here to get a taste of the real thing... ;)

I find root beer only a bit more tolerable than Dr. Pepper which I hate.... it's up there with Mountain Dew on my "blech" list...

I used to love root beer floats as a kid, but I just don't like them that much any more.

I just find sodas in general too sweet to quench my thirst.

I actually like Dr Pepper and Mountain Dew, altho the latter does look a tad radioactive  ::)
Good things come to those who wait...a really long time.

It's so weird seeing rootbeer on ebay over there when it's such a common thing over here.

It's Barq's or nothing, in my view, although I do enjoy Mug as a second choice, and A&W over any of my choices in the UK.   The stuff over here is disgusting.  I did try the Australian stuff at Waitrose, but....meh.  Ross (DH) agrees, just not the same.  Although he thinks it's similar to Dandelion and Burdock, which I don't care for.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

For one of DH's birthdays we had a root beer tasting party.  We asked everyone to bring a different brand and we set them all out with comment cards and pens.  It was brill and everyone had a great time.  We kept the comment cards...every so often I come across them and smile.

I remember being little and having a huge birch beer keg at the neighbor's pig roasts.

We had the same thing at our neighborhood pig roasts! Anytime I hear about birch beer it brings back those fond memories.  ;D

I love root beer and birch beer. My BF thinks it's vile. Same with Mountain Dew. We went to a pizza shop and I made him sample all of the various soda choices!

Cybercandy in Covent Garden in London has root beer (A&W, Barqs and Mug), and many other American sodas. They are about £1 a can, but if you want it then it is worth it! Partridges near Sloane Square may as well, since they have an American section, but it is pricey. There was also a small off-license in Farringdon, in the City, that had random American sodas, as well as American magazines.
