Whos going to the UK for Christmas?
« on: November 15, 2007, 05:08:25 AM »
For those of us who still live in the US, who of you are going to the UK for the holidays?

I was just there in the summer for 2 months, and now I am counting down the days left until I leave again! Last Christmas, my fiance came over here to Detroit, and it was awkward, with my family never talking to her (she is quiet until you talk to her for a little while, unless you're me ha-ha).

It is strange to think that I won't celebrate another Christmas here in Michigan for quite some time to come, as I am getting married and moving in August.

That's awesome that you're going to the UK for Christmas!  I'm doing that too :D  In fact, my flight is exactly a month from now!  Also, once I leave, I'm going to be out of the US for several months.  First I'm going to do an internship in London, then I'm going to Spain for a while, then I'm studying in Italy for the summer.

Also, last winter was VERY awkward, so it's not like I'm really going to miss my family at Christmas XD  Ironically, last year was awkward because of my very first trip to the UK...

But anyways, this is going to be my first Christmas with my boyfriend!  This is cool; it looks like we're leaving on almost the same day probably.  I'm leaving through Toronto on the 14th since that was the cheapest thing I could get (ironically, Toronto is the biggest city close to me even though I'm in NY state).

I would love to be in the UK at Christmas time. But flights are so expensive and the exchange rate is awful, so it's looking like I won't be able to go back for a while.

I am! DB and I are going to visit his parents for Christmas. We're leaving on the 22 and going for a week. It's expensive, but it's his first year here and he misses his family and wanted to spend Christmas with me. I've never spent a Christmas there, and this is our first Christmas together (last year we celebrated when he came a couple of days later).
