short answer: $30,000 for a one-year masters course.  That's tuition plus living expenses, tuition alone was $16,000.  With the exchange rate getting worse though, I probably would plan on a little more than that now.

For this year, I have $32,500 in loans and I've regularly dipped into my savings to make ends meet.

Base tuition is running around $17,000. Because I live far away from campus, it costs me around $250 a month to get in for meetings, etc. Because there are a lot of books that I buy instead of getting from the library, I spend around $150 a month on books.

The one positive financial thing is that because I'm a full time student, I'm exempt from council tax, so that saves me $180 a month!

In the end, it's still cheaper and better than my options in the States were. That's a very specific situation for my area of study, though.
Another shameless promotion for www.mclevey.com, the best place on the internet to buy art.

$20,000 for one semester of study abroad at Westminster.

Then I need another $5,000 for the summer course I want to take in Italy.

But spending most of the year in Europe is priceless :D

It was 2 years ago but im beginning to see mine was rather cheap!!! $20,000 for 2 semesters (9 months) including everything.  Tuition, room, books, spending money, money for travelling.  When I came the exchange rate was around £1=$1.70 so not as bad as now.

I went to a University here through my home university because they had a deal set up with about 8 school in the UK where their students came over to the US paying only what they would pay at their home university for tuition and room and vise-versa... so it worked out just a little more than what I paid at home since I was an exchange student.

This was how my study abroad year worked when I went over to the US for 2 semesters. I paid £500 (then $850) - which was half of the UK fees - for 9 months of US tuition... somehow I think the US students get the bad end of the deal.

Chrissy, you paid $20,000 for the year, whereas the UK students who 'exchanged' and went to the US paid only about $800-$1,000 for the same thing!

Yeh, I realize that but if I came to the University in England as an international student and applied as everyone does, the same school would have cost me loads more because I was from outside the UK....but i was quite surprised that I was paying the same amount to be in England as my home state school (about $14,000) and the extra $6000 (which was more than enough and i had loads leftover) was for spending money, books, plane tickets and traveling.

Thats just the way it is I suppose, and I accept that... I know people in the US who went to a private University and spent alot more than $20,000 for one year-- and I had the benefit of traveling and living abroad...and of course i met DH so im quite happy  ;D
