I've never heard of a deboned turkey! Do you just get that from the butcher?
Hmm...methinks MeShell is doing a bit of flirting or something else with her butcher in order for him to debone her bird  ;D

i used to order a deboned turkey when i was a chef- amazing to carve... quicker to cook... great.

i went shopping on sunday to tesco to get my (2) large turkies.  they only had small & medium.  they did have large but they were the self-basting kind and i think those are weird.  gonna check my work tescos & then waitrose.  need to cook 35 lbs of turkey.

When you were a chef?!?!

This is the first I've heard of it!!  :o

As for the deboned turkey ... it just makes me think of that episode of Family Guy where a genie grants Peter's wish and he ends up with no bones. Anyone? Anyone at all? No? Just me then? OK.  :(

I vaguely remember it. P remembers it well, though, but he is the Family Guy almanac!

i was a chef (offically my title was steward, but noone knows that that means) on a tall ship (136ft 2 masted schooner) during college, and then for a little bit afterwards.  but i'm not a fancy cook- good basic food- cooked on a diesel stove- in rolling seas.  i loved it, and i doubt i'll find another job i'll love more ever again.

I guess I'll do a frozen one again this year. Has the cost of turkeys gone up since all the culling?

I don't think the prices have gone up yet (or at least not too bad), but they're set to "rocket" this week according to the local butcher.   :-\\\\

i searched & searched & searched and could NOT find a frozen, non-self-basting turkey.  i need 35lbs (17kg) of turkey, and the idea of cooking (3) medium turkeys was just crazy talk.  so i got 2 extra large (8.5kg) self-basting turkeies.  anyone know if i can still brine self-basting turkies.  i don't want to think about what's injected inside.

As far as I know you can still brine them, I don't think they're injected with a whole lot.
